Recently, the east tunnel of the Changsha Huanghua International Airport started construction, as a pioneering project of the Huanghua Airport section of the newly built Changsha-Ganzhou Railway. It was the first tunnel to be excavated on the whole line of the railway.

The Huanghua Airport section of Changsha-Ganzhou Railway is an integral part of the Changsha Huanghua International Airport reconstruction and expansion project. The newly-started tunnel starts at the east end of Huanghua Airport Station on Changsha-Ganzhou Railway and ends at the east end of the land acquisition red line of Changsha Huanghua International Airport reconstruction and expansion project, with a total length of 673.57 meters. The launch of the tunnel's construction sounded the clarion call for the Changsha-Ganzhou Railway construction.
