Yueyang's 22 scenic areas and spots will be free of charge for natives of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning provinces from January 10 to February 8, the Yueyang culture and tourism authority said on Wednesday. This aimed to express gratitude to the three northeastern provinces for their warm reception and hospitalities to Hunan's tourists. In addition, a number of Lunar New Year themed activities and boutique tourism routes have be launched to welcome tourists across China to Yueyang in Spring Festival holiday.
The scenic areas and spots include Jiangtun (Finless Porpoise) Bay Scenic Area, Zhang Guying Scenic Area, Dayun Mountain Scenic Area, Lutoujinggu Scenic Area, Chunxi Town, Yueyang Confucius Temple, Star Paradise, Liubei Cave Canyon Scenic Area, Xiangsi Mountain Scenic Area, Zuo Zongtang Memorial Hall, Liuzhuang (Former Residence of Zuo Zongtang), Guo Songtao Memorial Hall, Yuezhou Kiln Ruins Museum, and Xiangying Confucius Temple.
Yueyang will focus on increasing the popularity of its cultural tourism brands and hold Spring Festival-themed activities such as the 2024 National Community Spring Festival Gala and Changle Taige performances. The aim is to increase the city's vitality and enlarge its circle of friends.
Taige, a folk dance that originated in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), is performed with boys and girls in costumes standing high on plank platform while others carrying poles and parading through the streets.
Yueyang has held three cultural tourism promotion conferences in Shenyang, Changchun, and Jilin since last year. One hundred media outlets and travel agents from northeast China were invited to Yueyang. Quality travel routes and free admission policies were launched to attract tourists. In 2023, there were nearly 10,000 new tourists from northeast China visiting Yueyang.
