On January 4, China Media Group (CMG) announced the selection of four sub-venues for the 2024 Spring Festival Gala, namely northeast China's Shenyang, northwest China's Xi'an and Kashgar, and central China's Changsha.

The four sub-venues will work in conjunction with the main venue in Beijing to host and present this year's gala on the eve of Chinese New Year, which falls on February 9.

The person in charge of CMG's arts program center, said the Spring Festival Gala holds significant cultural importance for all Chinese people and has become a noteworthy symbol of Chinese culture in international communication, often referred to as the "golden business card."

The 2024 Spring Festival Gala will adopt the "1+4" model, consisting of a main venue and four sub-venues. The aim is to seamlessly integrate the sub-venues with the main venue through holistic design, artistic expression, and elegant presentation to show the diverse folk culture from different parts of the country and highlight the dynamic and vibrant spirit of the new era.

Chen Peng, a member of the Standing Committee and director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, said that Changsha is a city that is making history and is full of vitality and happiness. It always stands at the forefront of innovation and creativity, making it an appealing destination for entrepreneurship among the youth. Changsha has been recognized as a UNESCO Creative City in media arts. It has been selected as China's happiest city for 16 consecutive years, and is moving towards the goal of creating an "all-age friendly city". As an important node city of the Belt and Road Initiative and a primary central city in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, Changsha is very honored to be chosen as one of the four sub-venues. The city will work with the Spring Festival Gala crew to provide a wonderful cultural feast for Chinese people around the world, telling Chinese stories well and showing the beauty of Chinese civilization.

The sub-venue in Changsha is located at the Binjiang Cultural Park. The Changsha Museum, Changsha Concert Hall, and other organizations have already been informed to make appropriate preparations. Construction is currently underway for the stage that will be used during the 2024 Spring Festival Gala.
