The Changsha South Railway Station handled 98.1549 million passenger arrivals and departures in 2023, with an average of 268,900 per day, the station said on January 3. The station's total passenger volume in 2023 increased by 27.16% compared to 2019 and 75.07% compared to 2022, hitting a record high since the station was established 14 years ago. The single-station passenger flow ranked first in central China.

Since 2023, passenger travel demand has soared, leading to the Changsha South Railway Station consistently breaking historical records with its total passenger flow. During the 62-day summer travel rush, the station saw a total of 20.7302 million passengers arrivals and departures, with a daily average of 334,400. The total passenger volume in July and August consecutively exceeded 10 million trips, a new record high for monthly passenger traffic. In 2023, there were 116 days with daily passenger arrivals and departures exceeding 300,000. Daily passenger arrivals and departures reached a record high of 401,300 on June 25.

Since 2023, more than 12,000 volunteers have been involved in providing volunteer services at the Changsha South Railway Station.
