The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released a list of newly-approved green manufacturing demonstration units. Hunan has 77 enterprises shortlisted for the national green plants; five industrial parks listed as the green industrial parks; and, 11 enterprises approved as the green supply chain management enterprises. Among them, the number of Hunan's newly-approved green plants ranked fourth nationwide, achieving the best results since the launching of the national green manufacturing system in 2017.

According to a person in charge of the provincial industry and information technology authority, Hunan has 213 national-level green plants, 18 green industrial parks, 122 green design products, and 27 green supply chain management demonstration enterprises. Hunan stood in the sixth place domestically for its comprehensive green construction level.

Hunan has accelerated the green development of industrial sectors in recent years. It took the national lead in issuing regulations and rules on promoting the development of advanced manufacturing industry and the construction and management of green manufacturing system, providing legal foundation and institutional guarantee for the construction of green manufacturing system. Meanwhile, Hunan has carried out multi-level cultivation of green manufacturing demonstration units, forming a national-provincial-municipal-level joint cultivation mechanism, to further complete the green manufacturing and service systems.

In 2023, Huna has beefed up efforts to enhance green manufacturing. A number of "dual-carbon" experts went to enterprises and industrial parks to help formulate operable plans on green manufacturing development. The provincial authority optimized the green manufacturing assessment system. For example, criteria on clean production, energy and water saving, carbon footprint evaluation, and low-carbon clean new energy were added to press for implementations of related enterprises and industrial parks. So far, Hunan has completed assessment of the mandatory clean production of more than 2,000 industrial enterprises and the volunteer clean production of 1,676 ones.

Official data showed that, between January and October this year, Hunan has cut large industrial enterprises' energy consumption per unit of added value by 8 percent, with an anticipation of achieving the 14-percent goal in the 14th Five-year Plan ahead of the schedule.
