The 5th World New Energy Vehicle Congress was held recently. At the conference, the China Society of Automotive Engineers announced the results of its 2023 assessment on the capabilities of national intelligent connected vehicle testing demonstration zones.

The National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Changsha) Testing Zone, operated by the Intelligent Connected Vehicle Test Center (Hunan) of CAERI Co., Ltd.,  ranked among the top three in the country in two capability assessments, the operator said on December 11.

According to the assessment results, the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Changsha) Testing Zone ranked second nationwide in terms of closed site testing capability and third among China's leading units in comprehensive capability.

The assessment was led by the China Society of Automotive Engineers and the China Industry Innovation Alliance for the Intelligent and Connected Vehicles.

The National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Changsha) Testing Zone covers an area of more than 1,200 mu (80 hectares), including the country's longest 3.6-km two-way expressways, simulated urban roads, cross-country roads, winding mountain roads, and muddy roads, and other test scenarios. In 2022, the zone built  the country's first test base for the expected functional safety of intelligent connected vehicles. This year, it released a C-IAC testing system, which is based on various dangerous scenarios such as rain, fog, dust and light, vehicle loads falling, and mud splashing. Since the zone opened five years ago, more than 70 enterprises such as Baidu, Geely, BYD, SAIC, GAC, and CiDi have conducted over 8,000 tests within the zone, with a test mileage reaching 400,000 kilometers.
