The China Southern Airlines flight CZ5701, taking off from the Hong Kong International Airport with 124 passengers, arrived at the Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport at 13:37 on December 11, 2023. It marked the resumption of the flight route between Zhangjiajie and Hong Kong SAR, which was the 10th resumed international (regional) route of Zhangjiajie airport.

The Zhangjiajie-Hong Kong direct flight would be operated by the China Southern Airlines during the period from December 11, 2023 to March 30, 2024. A Boeing 738 airplane would serve the route, with a maximum capacity of 164 passengers. There will be a round-trip flight on every Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday, with only two hours for a one-way trip. The schedule is: CZ5071 flight takes off from Hong Kong at 12:00 and arrives in Zhangjiajie at 14:00; and, CZ5072 flight starts off from Zhangjiajie at 14:50 and arrives in Hong Kong at 16:50. The departures and arrivals are specifically in reference to Beijing time.

Since the beginning of this year, Zhangjiajie has accelerated resuming the international (regional) passenger flight service. So far, it has resumed ten flight routes linking to the international destinations including Honai and Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam; Bangkok of Thailand; Pusan, Daegu, Cheongju, Muan, and Inchon of South Korea; Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia; and, Hong Kong SAR. The restart of these routes has laid a solid foundation for Zhangjiajie's tourism resumption and industrial transformation and upgrading.

Between January and November this year, the Zhangjiajie airport has handled 1,362 inbound and outbound flights and 193,000 passenger trips. The number of its operational flight routes has recovered to 80 percent of the level in 2019.
