A VJ2552 aircraft of the Vietjet Air, loaded with 500 kg of Vietnam dragon fruits, arrived at the Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport at 20:30 on November 28, 2023. After going through customs inspection, the dragon fruits have completed customs clearance process.

The Hehua Airport was officially designated by the China's General Administration of Customs as a supervision site for imported fruit in August 2022. These dragon fruits were the first batch of imported fruits handled by the airport, which marked that the airport has resumed operation as a supervision site for imported fruit.

The Zhangjiajie airport is the only national-level designated supervision site in the Wuling Mountainous Area for three categories of imported goods – fruit, edible aquatic animals, and refrigerated fresh aquatic products. It once handled import of fruit from Thailand and edible aquatic animals from the Philippines in 2020 and 2021. However, this import activity was suspended then. Since the international flight service resumed this April, the Zhangjiajie Customs Authority has actively supported enterprises to promote freight service. As of November 27, a total of 60 batches of imported and exported cargos, weighing 39.41 tons and valued at 14.11 million CNY, have been handled through belly cargo airfreight operations.
