A conference on promoting high-quality development of the companies that obtain the authorized economic operator (AEO) status was held on November 27. The conference revealed that there were four newly-certified enterprises, including Lens Technology (Xiangtan), bringing the total number of enterprises in Hunan with AEO status to 103. The enterprises cover all of the 13 cities and one prefecture around the province.

The enterprises that obtain the AEO status through the authentication by customs authorities can enjoy preferential treatment in 21 service items, such as lower inspection rates for imported and exported cargoes and priority in customs clearance. At present, the advanced certified Chinese enterprises may enjoy these privileges in 26 economic entities and 52 countries and regions, which are equivalent to those enjoyed domestically.

The Changsha Customs data showed that, in the first ten months this year, the AEO certified enterprises have achieved a total import and export value of 119.563 billion yuan, accounting for 0.35% of that made by all of Hunan's import and export companies and contributing 23.65% to the overall foreign trade value of the province.

This year, the Changsha Customs authority has stepped up its efforts to assist enterprises in obtaining the AEO status. Meanwhile, it has coordinated the Hunan-based branches of the Bank of China, the Agricultural Bank of China, the China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC), and Sinotrans to offer preferential treatment to the AEO certified enterprises in such aspects as financing, credit guarantee, and logistics.
