On November 20, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism announced the province's cultural tourism market data during the January-October period. In the first 10 months, 416 provincially-monitored tourist areas received 349 million tourist arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 100.71%. Tourism revenue surged 80.25% to more than 44 billion yuan. Hunan's cultural tourism market saw more than 46 million tourist trips during the period.
Eleven 5A-level national tourist attractions received over 88.7 million tourist arrivals, surging 130.24%. One hundred and forty-two 4A-level national attractions saw 124 million tourist trips, up 102.62% from last year. A total of 259 3A-level national attractions or below received 137 million tourist visits, up 83.82% year on year.
Hunan has maintained good performance in accommodation. From January to October, the 557 provincially-monitored accommodation enterprises in the province rented out more than 16 million rooms and accommodated about 22.19 million visits, resulting in a room occupancy rate of 76.98%. Specifically, 19 five-star hotels rented out more than 1.4 million rooms with an average occupancy rate of 69.33%; 52 four-star hotels rented out 2.8 million rooms with an average occupancy rate of 75.97%; and, 139 three-star hotels or below rented out over 3.9 million rooms with an average occupancy rate of 81.15%.
The trend of "cultural tourism" is gaining more popularity. From January to October this year, a total of 188 provincially-monitored museums, libraries, and cultural centers in the province provided cultural services for more than 91 million arrivals. Twenty-nine performance venues held a cumulative total of 4,852 shows, a 68.24% increase compared to the previous year. The venues received more than 3.5 million visits, up 187.66%. The total revenue reached 283 million yuan, a 150.48% increase year-on-year. Additionally, 69 performance groups presented a total of 10,962 shows, an increase of 61.4%, and attracted visits of over 10.7 million, up 138.15%. The total revenue reached 312 million yuan, a growth of 112.86% compared to the same period last year.
