Yuancheng Village is a key rural revitalization village famous for characteristic tourism in Hunan Province. It boasts red or revolutionary resources, a good ecological environment, and a rich culture. Yuancheng Village is a memorial site of the Long March for the second and sixth Red Army groups. It is included in the "Red Beautiful Village" Construction Project by the Organizing Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The region is bordered by water on three sides while connected to mountains on the fourth side. The forest coverage rate reaches 80%, with more than 40 ancient trees, including ginkgo trees and camphor trees. It is approved as a forest village of Hunan Province. Because more than 80% of habitants are Dong people, the village is commonly known as a mysterious island of Dong people. It is also included in the fourth batch of national traditional villages by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
