Hunan VET Experience Shared at 2023 China-U.S. TVET Union Leaders Dialogue

The 2023 China-U.S. TVET Union Leaders Dialogue was held in Nanjing on November 13, 2023. Li Bin, Party secretary of the Changsha Social Work College, made a speech entitled "Digital Empowerment for the Cultivation of Technical Professionals in Smart Health and Elderly Care". He shared Hunan's vocational education and training (VET) experience in English with presidents of VET colleges and universities in both China and the United States.


The event was hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), aiming at continuously promoting China-U.S. educational exchanges and building a platform for VET interaction and cooperation between the two countries. It was held via an online + offline mode, bringing together heads of various VET institutions in China and the United States. They carried out multi-perspective and all-round discussions on how to advance the high-quality VET development in the context of digitization in the new era.


Secretary Li delivered a speech as a representative of Chinese vocational schools. He shared his experience on the content and effectiveness of the schools' work on digitally-enabled training of intelligent recreational and healthcare technical skills from three aspects. They are: digital literacy strengthening the foundation of talent development; digitally empowering internal development of recreation and healthcare profession; and, digital application to explore R&D of recreation and healthcare equipment.


Jin Lei, deputy head of the CEAIE Major VET Projects Working Group, said the event further promoted humanistic exchanges between China-U.S. VET institutions. He hoped those institutions to take the meeting as an opportunity to deepen the digital transformation and upgrading of professions and the construction of connotations, and work together to build a pattern of digital interconnection in vocational education and training. We would jointly push forward the digital services for all-round development of students and high-quality development of the economy and society, he added.
