Recently, crab breeders are busy harvesting, packing, and delivering crabs at the Datong Lake Hairy Crab Industrial Park in Yiyang City.

The Datong Lake has been famed for crab breeding for more than two decades. In recent years, the local authority has given priority to enhancing crab industry while boosting aquatic ecosystem restoration. It has developed a pond-based "aquatic plants + hairy crabs" aquaculture mode, and constructed solar-aquaculture projects which combine solar power over water and aquaculture beneath water. An ecological and green development path has taken shape.

This year, the hairy crab aquaculture areas on the Datong Lake reached about 16,000 mu (over 1,067 hectares). It is estimated the annual output will hit 2,000 tons, about 500 tons more than that in last year.
