The Kenya National Promotion Conference and Hunan-Kenya Economic and Trade Fair was held in Changsha on October 21, 2023.

"Come to invest in Kenya! We will provide accurate market information to help you make informed decisions," said June Chepkemei, managing director of the Kenya Investment Authority.

The Kenya authority has demonstrated genuine sincerity in its efforts to activate trade cooperation and attract investors. It has rolled out an array of measures including: exemptions for raw materials and mechanical equipment from customs duties and value-added tax; investment subsidies for factory machines, equipment, and buildings at a proportion of 100%; and, benefits for investors including modern commercial areas and housing, and an enhanced digital medical system.

The Tatu Industrial Park in Kenya was in the spotlight at the fair. "There are 77 enterprises settled in the Tatu Industrial Park, among which 30% are Chinese companies, such as the China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (SINOTRUK) and the Zhende Medical Co., Ltd.," said Hao Yingdi, the Chinese marketing manager of the park. Furthermore, investors can enjoy "one-stop" service at the park, shortening to 45 days the approval process for licenses in the Tatu City as Kenya's first operational Special Economic Zone .

Kenya is an important partner for Hunan in Africa. In 2022, Hunan's trade with Kenya reached 2.134 billion CNY, marking a year-on-year increase of 128%. As of now, fourteen Hunan enterprises have invested or started up business in Kenya, contributing a foreign direct investment of 101 million USD.
