Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, met in Changsha with Cao Jianguo, secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and chairman of the Board of the Aero Engine Corporation of China (AECC), and his entourage on the morning of October 16, 2023.

On October 16, Secretary Shen and Governor Mao had a discussion with AECC President Cao in Changsha.

Secretary Shen, on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, welcomed President Cao and his entourage. He noted that the national aerospace and aviation industry has had significant presence and influence in Hunan Province since the 1950s, resulting in a deep-rooted aviation culture in Hunan. The province has carried out pragmatic cooperation with AECC for a long time, achieving fruitful results.

Hunan is now comprehensively implementing the the "Three Hubs and Four New Missions" strategic blueprint drawn by President Xi Jinping and vigorously advancing an array of landmark projects. Efforts will be made to construct the "4+6" national advanced manufacturing industrial clusters such as the small and medium-sized aero-engines, and to build Changsha into a global research and development center.

He expected AECC to increase its investment in Hunan; strengthen the construction of scientific and technological innovation platforms; and, support more Hunan enterprises to enter AECC's industrial and supply chains. We will, as always, provide high-quality services and guarantees for AECC's development in Hunan, he added.

President Cao thanked Hunan for its strong support to AECC and introduced its development in the province. He believed that Hunan is an important technological R&D center and manufacturing base for AECC. China's first aero-engine was born in Hunan, laying a solid foundation and broad prospects for cooperation between the two sides. AECC will give full play to its own advantages; expand R&D investment in Hunan; deepen collaboration among industries, universities, and research institutions; and, strive to build a complete industrial ecology, so as to achieve high-quality development together with Hunan.
