Huaihua International Land Port handled 315 trains between January and September this year, a year-on-year increase of 192.3%, according to data released by Huaihua Customs on October 8. Among them, there were 36 China-Laos freight trains, an increase of 56.5%. The figure was higher than the total number of freight trains handled in 2022.
Hunan Xiangtong Industrial Co., Ltd. entered the European and American markets this year. Immediately after the National Day holiday, workers are busy producing customized luggage and bags for European customers. Mou Xiaofeng, chairman of the company, said that transportation costs of products that are exported through the Huaihua International Land Port have been significantly reduced. In the first eight months of this year, the company shipped 210 TEUs of luggage and bags to the European and American markets via the Huaihua International Land Port.
The number of products imported through the Huaihua International Land Port have increased several fold. For instance, Huaihua Customs and grassroots customs along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor such as Mohan, Pingxiang, and Qinzhou have established a 'point-to-point' communication mechanism, enabling normalized customs clearance of imported cassava starch via the Huaihua International Land Port. In the first eight months of this year, the port has imported 10,000 tons of cassava starch, representing a year-on-year growth of 677.4%.
Huaihua is the only important node city in Hunan included in the national development strategy of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. Since the beginning of this year, Huaihua Customs has been promoting reform measures such as "rapid customs clearance for entry and exit by rail", "direct loading upon arrival", and "direct delivery upon arrival", simplifying customs declaration procedures and continuously improving customs clearance efficiency. For example, the "All-in-One Port" customs clearance mode of "inland port + sea-rail intermodal trains + feeder vessels" has helped shorten cargo transportation time by nearly 30%. This has made the export of specialty products such as Hunan tea and luggage more convenient and efficient.
