The expressway network operations monitoring and command center of Hunan Province released a summary report of the expressway traffic during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday just passed. During the 8-day holiday between September 29 and October 6, the total expressway traffic around the province reached nearly 37.3 million vehicles, with an average daily traffic of about 4.66 million vehicles. Such figures are 210% more than the routine ones, and 3.6% higher than that during the Spring Festival holiday. The expressway traffic in Hunan Province has remained at a high level with prominent peaks during the holiday. Travel rushes were mainly seen with Changsha as the center and distributed along four vertical and three horizontal expressways, which served as the major passages. Trans-provincial expressway traffic showed obvious changes in different times of a day, with the total volume soaring more than 50% over the same period of last year. The trips between Hunan and Hubei, Guangdong, and Jiangxi accounted for 76.2% of the total.
