Hunan's 370 retail enterprises and 73 catering enterprises under monitoring achieved the total retail sales of over 3.7 billion yuan during the 8-day holiday (between September 29 and October 6). This was a year-on-year increase of 2.43% and up 13.75% compared with the same period in 2019, said the business authority.
Among them, the retail sales reached more than 3.6 billion yuan, growing by 2.3% year on year and 13.7% higher than the same period in 2019. The catering sales surpassed 51 million yuan, an increase of 13.8% year on year and up 18.8% from the same period in 2019.
Liling, the so-called "Millennium Porcelain City", has numerous ceramics factories. The defective products made during production process are piled up outside the workshops. Porcelain in good condition can be found after careful selection, which attracts many netizens to come and "hunt" the treasure.
Liling government has taken this advantage by releasing hand-drawn maps for visitors to pick up porcelain in Liling at the 2023 Hunan (Liling) International Ceramic Industry Expo. Data from on-demand service giant Meituan showed that Changsha was ranked among the national top 5 cities for nighttime consumption during this year's longer holiday. Its proportion of nighttime consumption in stores exceeded 64%, and the search volume of "nighttime fun" increased by 228% compared with the pre-holiday period. The commercial areas of Changsha's Wuyi Square were among the national top five business areas with the hottest nighttime consumption.
Both beautiful scenery and delicious food remained hot topics during the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday. A Hunan cuisine exploration program broadcasted in September has triggered the demands for Hunan food tours.
The holiday vehicle market has been especially hot. Various auto shows and activities around Hunan helped boost vehicle sales.
