Recently, the "Croisements Festival" retrospective exhibition of Jean-Claude Mézières, the godfather of French science fiction comics, kicked off at the Yunda Mode in Changsha. The exhibition features more than 40 original works by Jean-Claude Mézières.

Jean-Claude Mézières was born in 1938 and passed away in 2022. In the eyes of many professionals in the fields of comics, publishing, and film, Mézières was considered one of the giants of European comics in the golden age of the 1970s-1980s.

Jean-Claude Mézières received numerous awards, and this exhibition is a retrospective of the artist's lifelong work. The exhibition features a selection of more than 40 original pieces by Jean-Claude Mézières, tracing the evolution of his comic creation style, technique, and ideas. It includes his early sketches published in the magazine "Pilote", the creation process of "Valerian and Laureline", and his works published in the magazine "Télérama".

This year marks the 17th edition of the Croisements Festival. As the largest foreign arts festival in China and the largest French arts festival outside of France, the Croisements Festival has been committed to bringing art across borders and engaging in cultural dialogues between not only French and Chinese artists and artistic institutions, but also the two countries as part of a broader vision.

The exhibition will run until October 18.
