The China Tourism News and other units made public a list of 20 national intangible cultural heritage-themed travel routes for 2022. The route of "Immersive Experience of Intangible Cultural Heritages in Charming Xiangxi" was Hunan's only route selected.

The route involves 28 national intangible cultural heritage items, 85 provincial ones, and 272 prefectural ones, as well as 33 national intangible cultural heritage inheritors, 93 provincial ones, and 460 prefectural ones. Tourists can enjoy intangible cultural heritage-themed shows staged by nearly 100 teams. They will put on intangible cultural heritage performances on a regular basis to enrich tourists' travel experience. The intangible cultural heritage achievements made by the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in recent years will be transformed into featured tourism resources including cultural creative products and study tour classes on Tujia brocade, Miao embroidery, and wax printing. The move aims to provide tourists with unique tourist products and services.

Xiangxi is the only national cultural ecological protection zone in Hunan. The prefecture has rolled out a series of measures to protect, inherit and develop intangible cultural heritage items. Xiangxi introduced China's first regional regulation on protecting intangible cultural heritage—the Regulation on Ethnic Groups and Folk Culture Heritage Protection in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. Xiangxi has continued to renew its intangible cultural heritage items, improve its training system, and make efforts to build the largest intangible cultural heritage museum in the border area of Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing, and Guizhou. A digital platform integrating intangible cultural heritage exhibition and sales has been built, with the support of a Xiangxi intangible cultural heritage website, a Xiangxi intangible cultural heritage online museum, and a Xiangxi intangible cultural heritage shopping mall.
