Hunan Athletes Win 5 Gold, 1 Silver at Asian Games

Hunan athletes have won five gold and one silver medals in the first two competition days of the 19th Asian Games.

On the morning of September 24, veteran rower Zhang Liang from Hunan Province claimed the gold medal in the men's double sculls alongside Liu Zhiyu, making it the first gold of Hunan Province.

Zhang Boheng from Hunan Province, together with his team members, won the gold medal in the men's qualification and team final of artistic gymnastics on the evening of September 24, making it the second gold of Hunan Province.

On September 25, Zhang Liang crossed the line first in 6:57.06 to retain his single sculls title, adding to his double sculls gold medal on the previous day. It was the third gold of Hunan Province. So far, Zhang has five Asian Games titles from four editions, and became the most successful Asian Games rower of all time.

On the same day, Yi Xudi, together with his team members, won gold of men's quadruple sculls of rowing, making Hunan's fourth gold medal. 

The fifth gold winner was Liu Yangpan. He and other two sharpshooters Wang Xinjie and Li Yuehong together clinched the men's 25m rapid fire pistol team title with a recording-breaking 1,765 points on September 25. He then seized the silver with 31 hits in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol individual final on the afternoon that day.
