Governor Mao Leads Delegation to Visit Indonesia

Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, led a delegation to visit the Republic of Indonesia between September 10 and 13, 2023. This visit aimed to further implement Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and facilitate the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative. The delegation met with Indonesian political leaders and witnessed signing of projects, to promote cooperation for win-win results and contribute to the building of the China-Indonesia community with a shared future.


On September 12, Governor Mao held a symposium with Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, minister of Industry, Indonesia.


Qu Hai, secretary-general of the provincial government, and Lu Kang, Chinese ambassador to Indonesia, attended relevant activities.


Governor Mao respectively met with Sudin, chairman of Commission IV in the House of Representatives; Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, minister of Industry; Rachmat Kaimuddin, deputy minister of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment; and, Nurul Ichwan, deputy minister of Investment. He remarked that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Indonesia, and the first year of building the China-Indonesia community with a shared future.

Riding on the "east wind" of friendly exchanges between the two countries, Hunan and Indonesia have accelerated exchanges and collaboration, showing strong momentum and unlimited potential. Hunan's import and export to Indonesia reached 21.51 billion yuan in 2022, up 65.8%. In the first half of this year, both sides saw 11.447 billion yuan of foreign trade, a year-on-year increase of 24.9%. He expected the two sides to give full play to their comparative advantages in resources, industry, science and education, culture and tourism, and talent cultivation; further deepen investment cooperation, close economic and trade exchanges, strengthen cultural and tourism exchanges, and expand education and training; and, work together to enhance the industrial chain, innovation, and value chains, to contribute to building a closer China-Indonesia community with a shared future.

Chairman Sudin and other Indonesian political leaders said that in recent years, Indonesia and Hunan shared frequent exchanges and beared fruitful cooperation results. They hoped to jointly seize the development opportunities; continue to expand pragmatic cooperation in agriculture, engineering machinery, culture and tourism, energy, and other aspects; and, push forward the Hunan-ASEAN partnership to a new level.


On September 12, Governor Mao and Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita inspected the Sany Indonesian "lighthouse factory".


On September 12, Governor Mao and Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita laid the foundation stone for the second phase project of the Sany Indonesia Industrial Park.


On September 11, Zoomlion signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Java Seed Indonesia. Governor Mao attended the signing ceremony.


On September 11, Governor Mao had a discussion with Firman Hidayat (1st L), deputy minister of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment.


On September 12, Governor Mao witnessed the signing of strategic cooperation between CNGR and PT BUMANIK.


The delegation also visited the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia and had an in-depth discussion with Ambassador Lu Kang on deepening exchanges and cooperation between Hunan and Indonesia in such fields as investment, science and education, agriculture, resources, culture, and tourism.
