On September 7, the Information Office of the Hunan Provincial People's Government held a press conference on high-quality development of county economies supported by power grids. Chen Jinshan, deputy director of the Hunan Provincial Energy Bureau, said that in the past two years, distributed photovoltaic projects have developed rapidly in the province, contributing greatly to high-quality development of county economies.
County-level regions cover a vast territory and have geographic advantage for developing green energy sources such as wind power, photovoltaics, and biomass energy. These areas have a huge potential for green energy sources exploration. The development of distributed photovoltaic projects can help reduce energy costs for enterprises, increase farmers' income, promote green energy transition of county-level areas, and effectively drive local employment and economic development. As of the end of July this year, the province's distributed photovoltaic power capacity reached 5.48 million kilowatts, an increase of 56.57% compared to the end of 2022, accounting for 76.16% of the newly added installed capacity of new energy in 2023.
Chen Jinshan added that the Hunan Provincial Energy Bureau will introduce polices to support distributed photovoltaic development, prioritize the construction of distributed photovoltaic power stations on the roofs of industrial and commercial enterprises, give full support for the construction of household photovoltaic power stations, and simplify the grid connection process for household photovoltaic power stations.
