Taking a rice seed that changes the world as its theme, the concert aims to pay tribute to late Chinese scientist Yuan Longping, known as the "father of hybrid rice." Yuan developed the world's first high-yielding hybrid rice strain in 1973, which was subsequently cultivated on a large scale in China and other countries, leading to a significant increase in rice production. The concert is jointly organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee; Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism; Hunan Federation of Literary and Art Circles; Hunan Provincial People's Government Office in Beijing; CPC Huaihua Municipal Committee; and, Huaihua Municipal People's Government.
Seven original music pieces with the local characteristics of Hunan and unique identity of Huaihua were performed in the form of ensemble, solo, poetry recitation, and folk music mixed with western music, to tell Yuan's story and show the spirit of the new era.
The concert will tour to Changsha and Huaihua in Hunan Province on September 13 and 15 respectively.
