The photo, taken on September 2, shows a farmer reaping soybeans with a harvester at the demonstration plantation for strip compound planting of corns and soybeans in Dadi Village, Chengtoushan Town, Lixian County. Professors from the Hunan Agricultural University have led the efforts to carry out a series of key agricultural technologies in this 560-mu (about 37 hectares) demonstration plantation. The technologies covered planting pattern, fine breed selection, timely seeding, density guarantee, accurate fertilization, green prevention and control of pests and diseases, and mechanized farming. These would help maintain a stable production of corns while realizing that the soybean production exceeds expectations, and greatly improve the farming efficiency and increase farmers' income.
