On August 29, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MOA) announced a list of establishing national rural revitalization demonstration counties in 2023. Hunan's Shaodong County-level City of Shaoyang, Dingcheng District of Changde, Suxian District of Chenzhou, and Yuhu District of Xiangtan, made the list.

The MOA continued to carry out the evaluation of the second batch of national rural revitalization demonstration counties establishment in 2023. After local recommendations and expert reviews, 100 applicant units across China were included in the 2023 list. The first batch of establishing national rural revitalization demonstration counties list was announced by MOA last year. Hunan's Miluo County-level City of Yueyang, Louxing District of Loudi, Liuyang County-level City of Changsha, and Heshan District of Yiyang were shortlisted.
