The Engineering News-Record (ENR) recently unveiled a list of the 2023 Top 250 International Contractors. The Hunan Construction Engineering Group and the Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group, two subsidiaries of the Hunan Construction Investment Group, made the list, with their respective ranking rising 20 places to 162nd and 19 places to 165th over the last year's rankings.
In recent years, the Hunan Construction Investment Group has taken the initiative in integrating its own development into the overall development of the country, and dovetailing with the national Belt and Road Initiative. It has accelerated its pace to "go global", proactively explored a transformation path for international engineering, and expedited developing a new international business pattern integrating investment, construction, operation, and trade into a whole. It has also given full play to its complete industrial chains and multiple business patterns, to continuously expand its international business coverage. Its overseas business has achieved a steady growth.
A total of 81 Chinese enterprises were on the list, two more than last year and staying on the first position worldwide. The shortlisted Chinese enterprises achieved a total international business turnover of 117.93 billion USD in 2022, making a year-on-year increase of 4.4% and accounting for 27.5% of all shortlisted candidates.
The ENR lists are widely recognized in the international engineering circle. The Top 250 International Contractors list is based on the total revenue of the overseas projects of the candidate enterprises, which particularly showcasing the enterprises' ability to expand business in the global markets.
