The 2023 National Marine Model Competition, also the National Adolescents Marine Model Championship, kicked off at the Tongguan Kiln Ancient Town Scenic Area, Changsha, on August 22. It will last until August 26. More than 500 marine model enthusiasts from Beijing, Guangdong, Fujian, Hunan, and other regions nationwide, composing 47 adolescent and 26 adult teams, participated in the competition.
The National Marine Model Competition is one of China's highest-level competitions of its kind. This is the second time of Wangcheng District to host such high-level domestic competition, after it hosted the national adolescent marine model competition in 2019. The CPC Wangcheng District Committee and the Wangcheng District People's Government has given priority to organizing national sports events while optimizing the business environment, so as to promote integrated development of sports, culture, and tourism, and inherit and carry forward the marine model culture.

The competition has powered marine models and duration events. There will be 22 group and individual items for adult competitors, and 13 individual programs for the adolescents. During this five-day competition, marine model enthusiasts from around the country will compete on skills and present their respective characteristics. It will facilitate technical communication and offer a sci-tech and sports feast for marine model enthusiasts and spectators.
The competition is hosted by the Aero and Radio Model sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sports of China, Chinese Marine Model Association, and Hunan Sports Bureau. The Hunan Sports Model and Motorboating Sports Management Center, Hunan Sports Model Association, Changsha Sports Bureau, CPC Wangcheng District Committee and Wangcheng District People's Government co-organized the event.
