On August 16, Governor Mao had a discussion with CHN Energy President Liu.

CHN Energy is a key state-owned energy enterprise (SOE) directly administered by the central government, and the world's largest coal producer, thermal power and wind power supplier, and coal-to-liquid and chemical company. It ranked 76th on the Fortune Global 500 list. Since 2020, it has invested 12.389 billion yuan, with a total installed capacity of 4.4 million kilowatts in Hunan Province. A number of its major projects such as the Baoqing Power Plant, Yongzhou Power Plant, and Huangjialing Wind Farm have been completed and put into operation, which have played an important role in guaranteeing Hunan's energy supply.

Governor Mao thanked CHN Energy for its long-term strong support to Hunan and briefly introduced the economic and social development of the province. He noted that in recent years, Hunan has set the goals for the "Three Hubs and Four New Missions" blueprint drawn by President Xi Jinping; continuously strengthened energy support based on electricity; and, comprehensively improved its energy supply capacity. The provincial total installed power capacity has reached 63.23 million kilowatts, which has successfully responded to electricity consumption amid peak summer seasons for three consecutive years. The installed capacity of wind and solar new energy accounted for 27% of the total, becoming the second largest power supply source.

Hunan and CHN Energy share a sound foundation for cooperation and broad space for development in such fields as thermal power, hydropower, new energy, and coal sales. He expected the group to further increase investment in Hunan; accelerate major projects construction such as the Huarong Power Plant; strengthen collaboration in building a new energy system and a new electric power system; and, assist green and low-carbon transformation of Hunan energy. The government would continue to optimize business environment and fully support CHN Energy's expansion in Hunan, he added.

President Liu remarked that CHN Energy would give full play to the advantages of its industrial chains; comprehensively meet Hunan's growth demands; continue to ensure the energy supply of Hunan; step up transformation and upgrading of traditional industries and arranging development layout of new energy; and, work together for mutual benefit and win-win situation.
