Changsha-Ganzhou High-speed Railway Expected to Start Construction at Year End

Bidding results of the construction drawing review of the Changsha-Ganzhou High-speed Railway Jiangxi section were released on the Jiangxi Provincial Public Resources Trading Platform recently. This marked one step closer to the official start of the entire railway line's construction. With an estimated investment totaling 84.623 billion yuan and a planned construction period of 5 years, the railway is expected to start construction at the end of 2023. Upon completion of the railway, the travel time between Changsha and Ganzhou will be reduced from 4 hours to less than 2 hours, and that between Changsha and Xiamen will be shortened from about 7 hours to about 5 hours.

The total length of the high-speed railway is 429.5 kilometers, including 131.8 kilometers in Hunan and 297.7 kilometers in Jiangxi. The railway connects Changsha West, Huanghua Airport, Liuyang, Shangli, Pingxiang North, Luxi South, Lianhua East, Yongxin South, Jinggangshan East, Suichuan, Ganzhou West, Ganzhou North and other stations along the line. Among them, the Changsha West, Pingxiang North, and Ganzhou West stations are under construction or existing stations, the other stations will be newly-built ones.

Changsha now has three high-speed railway stations, namely the Changsha Railway Station, Changsha South Railway Station and Ningxiang West Railway Station. In the future, Changsha will have 6 high-speed railway stations and achieve the full coverage of such stations in Changsha County, Wangcheng District, and Liuyang and Ningxiang county-level cities.
Upon completion of the Changsha-Ganzhou High-speed Railway, the Changsha Huanghua International Airport will integrate air and rail transport services, and Liuyang will usher in an era of high-speed railway.
