On August 1, the 31st FISU Summer World University Games in Chengdu entered its fourth day of competition. Hunan Province secured its first gold medal. Two post-2000s athletes named Wang Keyi and Luo Miaoyi from Hengyang pocketed one gold and one bronze medal in the shooting women's 25m pistol team final and the taekwondo women's-49kg final respectively.
During the shooting women's 25m pistol team final in the morning, 23-year-old Wang Keyi from the Hunan Shooting Center, along with her national team members Xiong Yaxuan and Lin Yaxi, won the gold medal with a score of 1,735. This marked the first gold medal won by a Hunan-based college student athlete in Chengdu FISU World University Games. During the taekwondo women's-49kg final in the afternoon, 22-year-old Luo Miaoyi defeated competitors from Japan and Brazil and was outmanoeuvred by Tokyo Olympics champion Panipak Wongpattanakit from Thailand in semifinal. Luo ultimately won a bronze medal.
According to the schedule, on the afternoon of August 2, the gymnastics event will award its first gold medal in the men's team final. Zhang Boheng, a star gymnast and an artistic gymnastics world champion from Changsha City, will compete in the men's team final.
