The guests came to attend the 4th Hunan International Green Development Expo.

On July 28, Hunan Governor Mao met with Lao Minister Vorachit.

Governor Mao welcomed the guests and briefed them on Hunan's economy and society, with a particular focus on accelerating green and low-carbon development. He noted that in recent years, Hunan has thoroughly implemented Xi Jinping thought on eco-civilization; stayed true to the principle that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets; promoted concerted efforts to cut carbon emissions, reduce pollution, expand green development, and pursue economic growth; and, took ten major actions to achieve peak carbon emissions, including implementing green-oriented transition of energy, and peaking carbon dioxide emissions in the industrial sector. Hunan has 100 national-level green factories and 10 green industrial parks being approved, the "green content" of high-quality development has been continuously increasing, and its green development index has entered the top ten in China.

Hunan and Laos are geographically close and emotionally connected to each other, he said, adding that both sides have close cooperation in infrastructure construction, economic and trade, tourism and other fields. He expected the two sides to take the green expo as an opportunity to further high-level exchanges; explore collaboration in the fields of natural resources such as mining development, ecological restoration, and disaster prevention; deepen ecological and environmental protection cooperation such as water and air pollution prevention and control; and, strengthen mutual appreciation of ecological civilization, expand the space for green cooperation, and enhance the impetus for green development in the "Belt and Road" cooperation.
