Changsha's Cultural Tourism Market Sees Strong Recovery in H1

In the first half of this year (H1), Changsha saw a strong recovery in cultural tourism market. Consumption potential has been continuously released. Changsha has been listed as a popular tourist destination in China for several times. Sixty provincially-monitored tourist areas received over 46.01 million tourist trips, a year-on-year increase of 108.35%. The business revenue reached 1.366 billion yuan, up 74.6% year-on-year. Among them, three national 5A-level tourist attractions received more than 16.95 million tourist trips, a year-on-year increase of 169.66%. Twenty-seven national 4A-level scenic areas saw over 17.46 million tourist arrivals, growing by 106.35%. Thirty scenic spots at 3A-level or below received more than 11.60 million tourist trips, up 58.13%. 

Visitor arrivals to accommodation units increased steadily. Seventy-nine provincially-monitored accommodation enterprises rented out more than 2.08 million rooms and received over 2.52 million visitor arrivals in the first six months, with an occupancy rate of 70.76%. Among them, 11 five-star hotels rented out 541,500 rooms, with an average occupancy rate of 66.74%. Fourteen four-star hotels rented out 496,900 rooms, with an average occupancy rate of 74.42%. Seven hotels at three-star level or below rented out 233,100 rooms, with an average occupancy rate of 75.89%.

People showed great interest in cultural venues. By offering a variety of cultural services, 2 museums, 11 libraries and 2 cultural centers included in the monitoring system attracted more than 6.11 million visits. Museums held 68 permanent and temporary exhibitions, attracting over 2.42 million visitor arrivals, up 261.19% year on year. Libraries organized 715 lectures, 150 exhibitions and 2,070 trainings and received more than 3.46 million visits, up 38.02% year on year. Cultural centers received 222,900 visitor arrivals.

Eight performing venues organized 551 shows and received 328,500 visitor arrivals, up 72.73% and 127.87% respectively. The operating revenue surged 88.98% to over 362.83 billion yuan. Nine performing groups staged 698 shows in total, a year-on-year increase of 42.74%. The shows attracted 725,100 audiences and generated an operating revenue of over 40.30 million yuan, increasing by 134.71% and 32.83% respectively. 

Travel agencies under key monitoring saw a boom in visitor arrivals. Forty provincially-monitored travel services received 623,300 domestic tourist arrivals and organized more than 4.67 million domestic tourist trips from January to June, a year-on-year growth of 876.12% and 668.69% respectively. During the period, they also received 19,000 inbound tourist arrivals and organized 48,500 outbound tourist trips.
