On July 22, more than 2,900 orders of cross-border e-commerce goods declared for export by a supply chain management company, departed to Vientiane, Laos from the Huaihua International Land Port, after being supervised by the Huaihua Customs and loaded onto the China-Laos International freight train. This marked the beginning of the official operation of the Huaihua Cross-border E-commerce Supervision Center.

The Huaihua Cross-border E-commerce Supervision Center is an important support facility of the Huaihua International Land Port. It is equipped with two intelligent inspection and sorting lines with fully digitalized operational systems and smart gate coordination. These facilities enable the center to handle various types of cross-border e-commerce business such as trade and e-commerce, e-commerce business-to-business direct exports, and e-commerce business-to-business exports to be warehoused overseas.

"As the only international freight assembly center in Hunan that is connected to ASEAN countries, Huaihua will give full play to the clustering effect of the international land port, accelerate the formation of ASEAN-oriented cross-border e-commerce industry clusters, and build itself into a new hub for the development of cross-border e-commerce," said Yang Shijun, general manager of the Huaihua International Land Port Development Co., Ltd. He noted that at present, there is a large demand among ASEAN countries for cross-border e-commerce and commodities. The total number of parcels delivered this year is expected to be about 100,000 parcels, equivalent to 500 TEUs, with an expected increase to more than 400,000 parcels, or 2,000 TEUs, by 2025.

Huaihua Customs Director Wu Yubai explained that, "Now that the Huaihua Cross-border E-commerce Supervision Center has been put into operation, we expect that the monthly cross-border e-commerce declaration volume will be about 20,000 orders, with more cargo sources from the international freight trains. This will also provide strong support for Huaihua's application for the construction of a comprehensive cross-border e-commerce pilot zone." The Huaihua Customs will make every effort to perform well in cross-border e-commerce supervision and service, and will actively advance the use of cross-border e-commerce channels for high-quality local agricultural products to expand their overseas sales markets, he added.
