On July 20, Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, conducted inspections and field surveys in Changsha and Xiangtan with the aim of building a hub of technological innovation with core competitiveness.

He asked to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and President Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions on Hunan Province; set the goals for the "Three Hubs and Four New Missions" blueprint; pursue innovation-driven development; improve the quality and efficiency of higher-level science and innovation platforms construction; and, encourage the application of advances in science and technology, to boost Hunan's high-quality development with greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

On July 20, Secretary Shen visited the Hunan University of Science and Technology to learn about the research and development process of the deep-water drilling machine. During his visit, he had a discussion with Professor Wan Buyan.
