The Second International Symposium on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Traditional Unani Medicine was held in Changsha recently, co-hosted by Hunan University of Chinese Medicine (HNUCM) and Hunan University of Medicine. 

At the symposium 

The symposium opened simultaneously in Changsha, China, and at University of Karachi, Pakistan, providing both online and offline access for participants. Hundreds of Chinese and Pakistani scholars and experts exchanged views and shared their experience on clinical applications and basic research in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Unani medicine. 

The theme of the symposium was "developing traditional medicine to safeguard human health". This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and also the 10th year of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). On this occasion, the symposium had timely and far-reaching significance.

Sindh provincial health minister receives a letter of appointment as visiting professor. 

Dai Aiguo, Party secretary of HNUCM, presented a visiting-professor appointment letter to Azra Fazal Pechuho, minister of the Health Department of Sindh Province, Pakistan. The Sino-Pakistan Cooperation Center on Traditional Chinese Medicine announced the publication of two books, one on the Hunan TCM physician Zhang Zhongjing, and the other on the homology of medicine and food.

The symposium has further deepened traditional medicine cooperation and exchanges between China and Pakistan, showcasing the levels of modernization and internationalization of TCM. It will play an important role in boosting the construction of the Sino-Pakistan Cooperation Center on Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as the international promotion of TCM culture and the development of TCM services and commerce.
