Hunan's Cultural Tourism Industry Sees Robust Growth in H1

Recently the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism announced the province's economic operation of cultural tourism market between January and June. In the first half of this year, Hunan sees a strong recovery in cultural tourism market. Four hundred and sixteen provincially-monitored tourist areas received 182 million tourist trips, a year-on-year increase of 116.86%. The business revenue reached 21.455 billion yuan, up 135.01%. 



Hunan's 11 national 5A-level tourist attractions received more than 46 million tourist trips, a year-on-year increase of 211.79%. A total of 142 national 4A-level scenic areas saw over 64 million tourist arrivals, growing by 111.82%. A total of 259 scenic spots at 3A-level or below received more than 71 million tourist trips, up 84.41%.

The number of visitor arrivals of accommodation units increased steadily. A total of 557 provincially-monitored accommodation enterprises rented out more than 9.25 million rooms and received over 12.62 million visitor arrivals in the first six months, with an occupancy rate of 73.32%. Among them, 19 five-star hotels rented out 808,600 rooms, with an average occupancy rate of 63.94%. Fifty-two four-star hotels rented out over 1.57 million rooms, with an average occupancy rate of 71.52%. A total of 139 three-star hotels rented out more than 2.26 million rooms, with an average occupancy rate of 78.36%.



Cultural venues were popular among people. A total of 188 provincially-monitored museums, libraries, and cultural centers attracted more than 48.94 million visitor arrivals by providing various cultural services. Twenty-nine performing places organized 2,523 shows and received over 1.9 million visitor arrivals, up 116.75% and 336.78% respectively. The operating revenue surged 253.58% to 122 million CNY. Sixty-nine art troupes staged 6,365 shows in total, a year-on-year increase of 72.8%. The shows attracted more than 6.17 million tourist visits and generated an operating revenue of 131 million CNY, increasing by 215.48% and 186.51% respectively. 

Travel agencies included in the key monitoring system saw a boom in the number of visitors they received. A total of 108 travel services received more than 1.49 million domestic tourist arrivals and 38,100 inbound tourist arrivals and organized 52,400 outbound tourist trips between January and June, a year-on-year growth of 664.09%, 5,155.03%, and 4,737.77% respectively.
