The 8th Sino-European Life Science Forum opened in Changsha on July 11, with the theme of "Openness, Trust, Cooperation and Development". Zhou Honghao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Wang Qinglin, first-level inspector of the Department of International Affairs (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Exchange Office) of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST); He Yi, honorary chairman of the Sino European Federation of Lifesciences (SEFL); Gao Hui, chairman of SEFL; Wang Guishu, executive vice chairman of the Hunan Association for Science and Technology and secretary of its Leading Party Members Group; and, Peng Tao, vice mayor of Changsha City, attended.
The forum was guided by the CAST Department of International Affairs and Federation of Chinese Professional Associations in Europe; hosted by the Hunan Association for Science and Technology, SEFL, and the Changsha Municipal People's Government; co-organized by the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area Management Committee; and, undertaken by the Changsha Association for Science and Technology, Changsha National Offshore Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base for Overseas Professionals, and Xiangjiang New Area International Talent Service Center. It aims to build a platform for exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and European life science experts and scholars, and biomedicine and health industry enterprises, scientific research institutes and institutions.
At the forum, Academician Zhou Honghao delivered a keynote speech on "Health Management and Industrial Opportunities Based on Individualized Medicine". Four experts from the European life science sector made themed reports. Presentations and cooperation negotiations for ten high-quality projects were also carried out.
Sixteen life science experts from 9 countries, including France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Portugal, Norway, Austria, and the Netherlands, shared latest research results with representatives from research institutions and enterprises in biomedicine and other related fields in the province.
Several enterprises and institutions were granted the plaque of "Work Base for HOME Program -- Help Our Motherland through Elite Intellectual Resources from Overseas" of the Hunan Association for Science and Technology. Letters of appointment for HOME Program's first batch of specially-invited experts were also issued.
