The results of the DNA Paris Design Awards 2023 were unveiled recently.

The Pingjiang-Yiyang Expressway Miluo Service Center won the architecture prize for its distinctive design which integrates the Chinese dragon boat culture into the buildings and landscape.

DNA Paris Design Awards is an accolade to discover and honor fresh and creative designs in architecture, interior, landscape, product, and graphic design. More than 3,000 entries were collected from around the world this year, and finally 94 stood out and won the architecture prize. The winners are from both domestic and foreign well-known design companies, such as Neri&Hu, the Institute of Architecture Design & Research of the Shenzhen University, United Units Architects (UUA) and Zhubo Design.

The Pingjiang-Yiyang Expressway Miluo Service Center was designed by the Hunan Provincial Communications Planning, Survey and Design Institute. Covering a total area of 11.92 hectares, it has been built into a multi-functional space integrating the traffic, cultural, and tourism functions. The main building of the center looks like a dragon boat berthed at the bank, and the square is ripple shaped. With the addition of dragon boat paddles and drum decorations, the center vividly presents the distinctive local culture associated with poet Qu Yuan and dragon boat.

Besides, the center realizes the transformation from a single traffic space to a multi-functional space, extending its functions from parking and refueling to recreations and tourism.
