The 9th Hunan College Students' "Internet Plus" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition kicked off at Hunan University on July 6. A college students' red-themed tour was launched simultaneously.
The launching ceremony was held at three sub-venues at the same time, namely, the Anjiang Agricultural School Memorial in Hongjiang City, Huaihua; the exhibition hall that commemorates the story of three soldiers giving half a quilt in in Shazhou Village, Rucheng County, Chenzhou; and Shibadong Village in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Prefecture. Significant outcomes of the previous sessions were presented at the ceremony, and representatives of awarded projects from previous competition shared their tour stories and the knowledge they gained through the activity.
The ceremony was also broadcasted online via livestreaming. More than 500 people participated on the site, including persons in charge of the host organizations and the innovation and entrepreneurship departments in colleges and universities in Changsha, and teacher and student representatives. Officials of the educational authorities and the employment and entrepreneurship departments at various levels around the province, and the persons responsible for the competition-related work in universities and secondary vocational schools attended the ceremony online.
The College Students' "Internet Plus" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is a practice to promote integration of education, science and technology, talent cultivation, and production. It holds brand and far-reaching significance in innovation and entrepreneurship in universities, and has played an important role in motivating the vitality of innovation and entrepreneurship, facilitating growth of young innovators, and boost combination of industry, education, and research.
Hunan has seen record results in the 8th China International College Students' "Internet Plus" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition which was held last year, winning six gold, 20 silver, and 87 bronze prizes. A total of 165,000 teachers and students from 124 universities and colleges participated, providing pairing-up assistance for over 80,000 farming households and generating a direct economic benefit of 88.2 million CNY.
