2023 "Chinese Root-Seeking Tour" Hunan (Changsha) Summer Camp Opens

The opening ceremony of the 2023 "Chinese Root-Seeking Tour" Hunan (Changsha) Summer Camp was held in Changsha, Hunan Province on July 3. Sun Minsheng, vice chairman of the Hunan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and secretary of its Leading Party Members Group; Li Zuyuan, vice chairman of the Hunan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and member of its Leading Party Members Group; Gao Wenqi, vice mayor of the Changsha Municipal People's Government and member of its Leading Party Members Group; Cheng Gang, secretary of the Leading Party Members Group of the Changsha Returned Overseas Chinese Federation; and, Chen Hui, chairwoman of the Changsha Returned Overseas Chinese Federation attended. During the following 10 days, 37 overseas Chinese youths from Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Canada, along with 16 young Chinese culture ambassadors from Changsha, will engage in in-depth study and exchange activities.

The summer camp activity was hosted by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese; organized by the Hunan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Changsha Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, and Song Dan Chinese Character Art Museum; and, co-organized by the Zhuzhou Returned Overseas Chinese Federation and Xiangtan Returned Overseas Chinese Federation.

At the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman Li Zuyuan expressed his hope that this summer camp activity would further promote cultural exchanges between Chinese and European youths and inspire them to explore and appreciate the essence, evolution, rhythm, influence, and fascination of Chinese characters. Youths were encouraged to communicate with each other, learn from each other, care for and help each other, forge friendship, and savour fine traditional Chinese culture.
