The CR200J Fuxing bullet trains officially began operation on the Xining-Golmud section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway on July 1, marking the entry of the railway into the era of the bullet train.

The bullet train was jointly developed and manufactured by CRRC's two subsidiaries – the CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive and the CRRC Nanjing Puzhen.

With a designed speed of 160 km per hour, the train has nine carriages and can accommodate 676 passengers. It is designed for the high-altitude and low-temperature environment along the Xining-Golmud section of the railway.

According to a CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive manager, the train uses six-axle electric locomotives to achieve 7,200 kW of traction power, nearly 30 percent higher than that of conventional four-axle ones, ensuring a stable start-up on slopes up to 30 per mille. The integrated design of the locomotive and trailer network control system enables intelligent monitoring and control, raising the operational safety of the train in the high-altitude, long-slope, and long-tunnel conditions. Moreover, with enhanced UV-protection, electrical insulation, heat dissipation under low pressure, low temperature-resistance, and protection against wind and sand, the system can meet the requirements for operation at 3,500 meters above sea level.

The Qinghai-Tibet Railway Xining-Golmud section starts from Xining, the capital of Northwest China's Qinghai province, in the east and passes through Huangyuan, Haiyan, Ulan, and Delingha to the Golmud Railway Station in the west. With a total operating distance of 829 km, the bullet train shortens the travel time from Xining to Golmud to about five and a half hours, creating a five-hour urban circle between Xining, Golmud, and Delingha. This will inject new impetus to the economic development of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
