Secretary Shen welcomed the guests on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government. He noted that Hunan boasts rich culture and time-honored history, a strong industrial foundation, obvious agricultural advantages, and rich scientific and education resources. It has comprehensive prospects and great potential for cooperation with the Gates Foundation. We hoped to further exchange and cooperation with the Gates Foundation and achieve more practical results in promoting China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, agriculture and small agricultural machinery "going global", improving rural health conditions, and building Changsha into an international R&D center, he added.

Director Zheng thanked Hunan for its support to the Gates Foundation and introduced the foundation's efforts in promoting poverty reduction, health, and public welfare. He said that the foundation is willing to deepen pragmatic collaboration with Hunan in such fields as international economy and trade, modern agriculture, healthcare, R&D, and innovation.
