The Hunan Xiangjiang New Area held a ceremony for centralized commencement and completion of 83 major projects in the second quarter on June 27. Fifty-two projects started construction and 31 completed construction, with a total investment of 44.249 billion yuan.

These projects involve such fields as industrial development, ecological environmental protection, infrastructure, social undertakings and people's livelihood. They are characterized by high scientific and technological content, substantial investments, great driving force, and good social effect. Upon completion, these projects are expected to achieve an annual output value of 23 billion yuan and provide more than 4,000 jobs.

Since the beginning of this year, Xiangjiang New Area has taken industries as the fundamental task and projects as the foremost, and introduced 65 major industrial projects worth 22.9 billion yuan, which have played an important role in strengthening momentum, increasing impetus and benefiting the people. Driven by industrial projects, Xiangjiang New Area's high-quality development has shown good momentum. From January to May this year, fixed asset investment in Xiangjiang New Area's directly administered areas increased by 2.4% year-on-year, 2.5 and 4.9 percentage points higher than the average level of Hunan Province and Changsha City respectively.
