"Peaks are surrounded by clouds and mist. Zhangjiajie is incredibly beautiful!" On the afternoon of June 23, Mr. Somkhit Vankham, consul general of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (PDR) to Changsha, who made an inspection tour in Zhangjiajie, visited the Yuanjiajie Scenic Area and was full of admiration for the stunning beauty of Zhangjiajie's mountains.

Between June 22 and 24, Mr. Somkhit Vankham and his delegation visited various scenic spots in Zhangjiajie, including Tianmen Mountain, Baofeng Lake, Yuanjiajie, and the Grand Canyon. They also watched performances of "Tianmen Fox Fairy" and "Charming Xiangxi," immersing themselves in the breathtaking landscapes of Zhangjiajie and experiencing the local folk customs and traditional culture. They highly praised the unique natural beauty and cultural charm of Zhangjiajie.

On the afternoon of June 22, Mr. Somkhit Vankham and his delegation visited Zhangjiajie College and held discussions on strengthening cooperation between the two sides. Mr. Somkhit Vankham saw his visit as an opportunity to assist Zhangjiajie College in establishing cooperative relationships with universities in Laos, aiming to promote deeper development in the fields of education, scientific research, and culture, and contribute to enhancing friendship between the people of both countries.

During the visit, Gao Jingsheng, vice mayor of Zhangjiajie City, met with Mr. Somkhit Vankham.

In recent years, Zhangjiajie and Laos have maintained close and friendly exchanges. In November 2020, Zhangjiajie City established a sister city relationship with Luang Prabang City in Laos. In September 2022, Zhangjiajie City officially established the "Silk Road Station" in Udomxai Province, Laos, making it the 23rd Silk Road Station set up by Zhangjiajie in 19 countries worldwide.
