The 2023 Hunan International Cultural Tourism Festival and the Serial Activities in Memory of the 2300th Anniversary of the Death of Qu Yuan were launched at the Miluo River International Dragon Boat Racing Center in Miluo City, Yueyang, on the evening of June 20.
Yang Haodong, member of the Standing Committee and director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, announced the opening of the events. Qiu Huadong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and member of the Secretariat of the China Writers Association, and Lai Mingyong, deputy director of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, were also present.
Themed "Welcome to Charming Hunan and Take A Boat Tour in Miluo", the festival is hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee, and the People's Government of Yueyang City.
During the festival, "4+6" serial activities – four major and six related activities – will be held to showcase Hunan's new culture and tourism image and the new achievements in the development of the cultural and tourism integration in Yueyang and Miluo.
The activities include:
-- "Our Festival - Duanwu" Themed Activities and Miluo River International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament;
-- An intangible cultural heritage exhibition (a memorial ceremony to be held at Quzi Temple);
-- An academic symposium on Qu Yuan spirit and its value of times;
-- Take quality travel routes to explore Hunan;
-- Yueyang cultural creative products exhibition and food tasting; and,
-- 2023 Hunan (Yueyang) Crayfish Industry Exposition.
The Hunan International Cultural Tourism Festival is a domestically influential cultural and tourism event. Over the past years, it has helped promote Hunan's cultural and tourism resources, enhance the popularity and reputation of Hunan culture and tourism, and raise the profile of the brand "Welcome to Charming Hunan".
