On the afternoon of June 14, Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province inspected SAIC Volkswagen Changsha Branch and held a meeting with a delegation led by Chen Hong, secretary of the CPC Committee and chairman of SAIC Motor. 

On June 14, Secretary Shen and Governor Mao inspected SAIC Volkswagen Changsha Branch and learned about the company's development, production and management.

SAIC Volkswagen Changsha Branch settled in Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone in May 2013 and has manufactured a total of 1.699 million vehicles as of May this year. And its first new energy vehicle project is scheduled to be gradually put into operation from 2024. Shen Xiaoming came to the company's exhibition hall, listened to its development, production and operation, and visited production workshops to inspect battery production process and automobile assembly process, and inquired about the progress of the new energy vehicle project. He encouraged the company to seize development opportunities, strengthen scientific and technological innovation, accelerate the pace of transformation and upgrading, and secure a leading position in industrial development.

On June 14, Secretary Shen and Governor Mao visited workshops at SAIC Volkswagen Changsha Branch to inspect battery production process and learn about the progress of the new energy vehicle project.

During the meeting, Secretary Shen expressed his gratitude to SAIC Motor for its long-term contribution to the economic and social development of Hunan Province. Shen said that Hunan is vigorously developing the automobile manufacturing industry with a focus on new energy vehicles and accelerating the construction of a hub of advanced manufacturing industry of national importance. SAIC Motor is a leading enterprise in the automotive industry, and has a strong foundation and enormous potential of cooperation with Hunan. It is hoped that SAIC Motor will play a leading role, further increase its industrial layout in Hunan, facilitate the settlement of auto parts-related enterprises in the province, help reinforce and upgrade weak links in the industrial chains of the automobile industry, and improve industrial added value and competitiveness. Hunan will continue to optimize the business environment to back up expansion and upgrading of enterprises, and support the development of SAIC Motor in Hunan.

Chen Hong thanked Hunan for its strong support to SAIC Motor, and introduced SAIC Motor's development strategy and planning layout in Hunan. He said that SAIC Motor will seize the development opportunities of the new arenas, dirve the automotive industry towards electrically-powered, intelligent and internet-enabled transformation, strengthen the application of new technologies and new scenarios such as artificial intelligence, better expand brand effect, increase production capacity in Hunan, optimize the layout of the industrial chain, and help the high-quality economic and social development of Hunan.
