Traditional Zongzi Production Assists Rural Revitalization in Xintian County

On June 11, villagers were busy making zongzi, a sticky rice dumpling wrapped up with bamboo or reed leaves, in Qishanli Village, Longquan Neighborhood, Xintian County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province. Since 2019, Mr. and Mrs. Liao have taken advantage of the traditional custom of wrapping zongzi in Xintian County during the Dragon Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival, to create a special zongzi using the traditional local production process. All the women in the village who knew how to make zongzi were organized to produce the products for both online and offline sales. This initiative helped utilize idle laborers get employed near their homes, increase their incomes, and advance rural revitalization.
