As of May 31, Changsha Huanghua International Airport has handled more than 10 million passenger trips, becoming the first airport in the central region of China to pass the threshold this year.
With the turnaround of the epidemic situation, the Hunan Airport Corporation has made active efforts to expand its domestic passenger resources. It has collaborated with domestic tourism authorities and travel agencies and has achieved fruitful results in restoring the passenger transportation market.
Changsha Huanghua Airport operates 4,960 flights every week, linking to 108 airports nationwide. A number of routes to domestic airports have been added or resumed, including Aksu, Altay, Guilin, Hulun Buir, Shijiazhuang, Tengchong, Wushan, Yan'an, and Yangzhou.

The Changsha-Beijing express route handles 26 flights daily; the Changsha-Shanghai route operates 18 flights; the Changsha-Sichuan route 17 flights; and, the Changsha-Hainan (Haikou and Sanya) route 22 flights. Moreover, no less than 10 flights a day on average are scheduled to fly from Changsha to Xi'an, Kunming, Harbin, Chongqing, and Urumchi.
International passenger transport has resumed at an accelerated pace. Between January and May, Changsha airport handled 94,000 international passenger trips and 1,320 international flights. Flight routes to 14 international destinations have resumed, including London, Nairobi, Seoul, and Bangkok. Currently, Changsha leads central China in operating routes to 10 international cities, including London, Nairobi, Bangkok, and Seoul. Next, more international routes are planned to open or resume, including flights to Osaka, Singapore, Dubai, and Kuala Lumpur.
This year, the Hunan Airport Corporation will continue to elevate the competitiveness of Changsha Airport as a transportation hub. It will dovetail with the airlines to enhance transport capacity, plan further collaboration with the cultural and tourism authorities to provide favorable air travel products, and upgrade transit service benefits to provide more convenient services for the passengers in Changsha.
