Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, paid an inspection tour in Guangzhou City of Guangdong Province on May 31 and June 1, 2023. He attended a symposium on Guangdong-Hunan building a modern industrial system, which was chaired by Wang Weizhong, his counterpart in Guangdong Province.

Qin Guowen, vice governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province; Lv Yuyin, his counterpart in Guangdong Province; Qu Hai, secretary general of the People's Government of Hunan Province; and Chen Min, his counterpart in Guangdong Province, attended.

On the afternoon of May 31, the Symposium on Guangdong-Hunan Building Modern Industrial System was held in Guangzhou. Hunan Governor Mao and Guangdong Governor Wang addressed the meeting.

Governor Mao congratulated Guangdong on its outstanding achievements in economic and social development and expressed his gratitude for the long-term strong support from Guangdong to Hunan. He noted that Hunan has followed the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; actively dovetailed with and integrated into the development plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA); and, continued to expand and deepen communication and cooperation with Guangdong.

He expected both sides to further strengthen collaboration; closely coordinate mutual strengths and advantages; promote complementary and mutually beneficial industrial partnership, integration and interaction of scientific and technological innovation, and infrastructure interconnectivity; accelerate combination of leading backbone enterprises and complementary advantages of small and medium-sized enterprises in the industrial chain; enhance the co-building and sharing of scientific and technological platforms, joint training of sci-tech talents, and joint research and development of key core technologies; and, push forward compatible utilization of "Xiang Yi Ban" and "Yue Sheng Shi", the online governmental service platforms of the two provinces. In particular, we may reinforce regional cooperation to achieve synergistic development in building a modernized industrial system, and work together to shoulder more responsibilities and make greater contributions on the new journey of advancing Chinese modernization, he added.

Governor Wang, on behalf of the Guangdong provincial Party committee and provincial government, welcomed Governor Mao and his delegation and thanked Hunan for supporting Guangdong as always. He remarked that Guangdong and Hunan are closely connected and share a natural affinity. Both sides have been constantly strengthening cooperation in industry, economy and trade, science and technology, energy, culture and tourism, and the people's livelihood, forming a sound development paradigm of working together with a unity of purpose to jointly foster lasting prosperity.

He hoped that both sides will further deepen matchmaking of industrial and supply chains; strengthen collaboration in high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy storage, and new energy vehicles; and, enhance collaborative innovation in scientific and technological innovation to complement each other's advantages and achieve mutual benefits.

Efforts should be made to enhance connection and coordination of major national strategies such as the GBA construction and the rise of the central China; promote integrated and coordinated development of Guangdong and Hunan provinces; and, deepen investment, consumption and opening up cooperation, he said, believing that both sides may jointly write a new chapter of Guangdong-Hunan cooperation in the new era.
